I’m just so frustrated. I did not know if I should blog this but Natalie and I had a huge fight with her family, and a week later we are still not talking. Natalie has been stressed to the max and as a result, so have I. The fight had nothing to do with the wedding but obviously, with time running low, it has affected the wedding. I’m starting to get nervous that we have yet to really start any of the big DIY projects and Natalie says I want to do too many, so I should stop being nervous because this fight is more important/hard.

Natalie wants nothing to do with the wedding planning right now since her family is the one paying for it and right now we have no idea how things are with them. I want to start moving on things but am stuck because no one is talking.

I understand Natalie being emotional but she doesn’t think it’s effecting her behavior towards me- which is totally has and is making me ubber drained/depressed/stressed. I don’t have a lot of time since I started working 2 jobs and going to a class.

Blah, this is a total vent. I’m just…tired of the stress this has created. It seems like if it isn’t one thing it’s another taking Nat’s attention from the wedding. I feel alone planning this wedding and she doesn’t feel that way at all. I know I’m more excited about the little details but she doesn’t even want to talk about the wedding…so I just lie awake at night stressing that nothing will get done and I’m be crazy busy before the wedding. I wanted to plan together…this is not my wedding but our wedding.

Brother Rabbit

Once I hit 18 and before knew I had a bleeding disorder, I desperately wanted 2 tattoo designs. One was a scrolly/cursive F on the back of my neck to symbolize my last name, feminism, female power, f*** the standard/normal.

I also wanted William Morris’s Brother Rabbit tattooed on my inner wrist. Odd choice, I know, but I love William Morris and what he stood for- making everything around him important to him, making it himself, involving himself in hand work. I was fascinated with his influence on the art world like the Bauhaus School(another love of mine).I love the pattern(c’mon, it has rabbits!) and am now thinking of making it ‘our pattern’ for the wedding, incorporating it into the invitations, table numbers, programs and such.

But it is a very intense pattern so, what do you think?

Nothing going on

Nothing is happening here. Oh no. Natalie just graduated from UMD last night and was the commencement speaker and spoke in front of 18,000 (thousand, jesus) people. That’s all. And we just have every family member known to man down here. And I’m graduating Saturday. And we have another graduation ceremony in, oh, 2 hours for Natalie.

And she had an article written about her sunday in the Washington Post.

*puff puff* I’m running from one thing to the next! But I am soo soooo proud of Natalie and will be sharing a billion pictures of graduation when I get a chance. Go terps!! And a shout out to…um…the fighting paintbrushes!!(aka the corcoran)

Mind Map

I’m a very visual person and with my wedding countdown now at 123 days to go I had a mini freak out. I have yet to do a whooooole list of stuff. I didn’t even have a list! I hate lists. They usually are on a scrap piece of paper I loose and then cry about because I will never ever find it again and now I have to remember all the crap I put on the first one and all the stuff I remember I have to do since then.

And even on lists, I feel overwhelmed. The list screams at me “Kelly you are inadequate! Your never going to get this all done! Bwahahahahaha.” As you can tell, I have some damn evil lists.

This is where mind mapping comes in. Basically it’s a very visual way of making a list that allows you to have the ability to collapse and expand categories at will. So I can look at one thing at a time or all of it. I use Mindomo which is free and I love love love.

Look at my list I made today. I need to add…a lot. But it’s a start and will hopefully get you to start one too because it made me feel a whole lot better seeing it all down on pixels.

I’m a book fanatic. So is Natalie. And blurb books has made self publishing darn easy which has opened up a world of nooks and crannies of subjects to read about. I wanted to share just a few with you to peek your interest.

Mini garden book? Hello wedding centerpieces!

How many $^%^*^%* favor boxes have you wrapped? This could help you out.

I nearly fell off my chair when I saw this. I love sissisboom, and they have a book??? Where’s my credit card?

Gay? Ok!

Ahem *clear throat* YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY.

Sorry about that. I just can’t help but be excited that California just legalized Gay Marriage. The second state to do so, they are letting anyone, not just state residents, go to the wedding chapel. I’m considering buying a plane ticket and going to photograph the first marriages performed, but I’m photographing a wedding that weekend! So maybe the next weekend I could go and get off work.

Either way, I’m so so so thrilled.

I’m not from the deep South, but grew up in good ol’ Virginia. And I defidently grew up with a conservative town and family. Believe me when I say I hate it most days, but looking at Southern Wedding Magazine, I get all gushy and sappy about the South. The Cotillion School I had to go to? Not so fun in 6th grade but so the South. Big hair, big dresses, and big weddings. I just added their blog to my RSS feed. I can’t help it, it’s like twinkies, so bad but so good. And shocker, there are some lovely modern weddings.

I’m so into yellow right now, the universe just totally gave me a boost. I think I’ll wear it to at least 1 of the events for the wedding- like the bridal shower? Hm.

Just Sad

I know a lot of people like the idea of releasing doves or butterflies at their wedding. It’s cruel because the animals end up dying in transport or being released in an unfamilar area.

I got to edit a wedding last week and saw the result of one bride disregarding nature. She went to release, mmm, maybe 12 boxes of butterflies. 3 flew out when all the boxes were opened. The rest, 4 butterflies per box, were dead. The children didn’t understand the butterflies were dead and a little boy kept carrying around a dead butterfly. It was sad and creepy.

So she didn’t get the dramatic release I’m sure was in her head and a bunch of butterflies died needlessly.
