After writing some tips for looking good for your engagement photos, I thought I would make a few outfits that I would have loved to wear for my shoot.

What would I most love the couples I shoot to do? BRING PROPS!! So far people have only brought the safety prop- a dog. Let’s branch out! What about your yearbook with the two of you? Or your teddy bear? Or photos of your parents/grandparents getting married? Or a totally tacky 80’s prom dress? C’mon!!! I. Will. Love. You. Forever. Your favorite story book as a kid. A parasol. Battery twinkle lights. Seashells. A killer chair or couch(um, now I would love this but we should talk about this prior to you showing up with one).

Order from Ann Taylor for your bridesmaids?

If you were thinking about ordering your bridemaids dresses online at Ann Taylor, you might want to think again. A bride ordered dresses in two sizes, as a lot of us do, to have her girls try them on. Only when they came, she found out she could not return them because they were on final sale! Though the bride’s invoice says otherwise, Ann Taylor says they were on final sale- so no returns.

FYI: Bang on the head? salon

So I called Bang Salon, the verizon center one(the other one slaughtered my hair 2 years ago), and spoke to the receptionist. Or should I say, someone who had no clue what they were doing.

I show up for my scheduled hair trial with Nikki, the owner, only to have her figure out: 1. Bang does not open till 11am so it’s too late for me to have my hair done 2. they didn’t check to see if Nikki worked that day

So Nikki apologizes and catches this error before I fork over $50 for a hair trail I could not use. So was sweet and says there are new people working the desk. Um, I understand small mistakes but this is kinda a biggie. So FYI: if you call Bang salon, do not not not trust what the receptionist says and ask to talk to another one to confirm and get names!!! In the scheme of things, not a biggie, except I emailed other hair people and no one is responding. So I’m pissed I wait for my trial with Bang only to be stuck in a ‘shit, who’s going to do my hair?!?!’ situation.

I did find two people open- out of the 8 I emailed. But Bang has really disappointed me and put me in a catch up/stress out situation.

Hotel Monaco

I had seen Hotel Monaco pictures while editing for Michael for the last year. I became obsessed. I loved all the possibilities the hotel offered for modern, clean, well lite photos. So when we discussed where we were going to get ready I was already saying “Only Hotel Monaco!!” Even though it is well out of our way.

So we visited and were first shown the biggest suite which was soooo gorgeous but Natalie heard the price and almost died($519 a night people, half our rent for a month). So we quickly asked to see others rooms but Nat was already doubtful we could stay here which was literally breaking my heart. So we saw a standard room and the Mediterranean suite. The standard room barely had any room because the bed was huge. So off to the suite we went. While it was expensive, we compromised. We are going to stay there the night before, get ready, and check out by noon(someone else will do this) while Michael will take pictures of us in the hotel then we all head out to Woodend. So it’s going to cost us around $350 for the night but we will have gorgeous getting ready shots- my favorite shots of the day generally. They are pet friendly, so I’m still trying to convince Natalie that bringing one bunny would be fun- I don’t think we could handle all 4.

Here’s a sneak peak of the hotel:

I can see us sitting in those seats!!

Going down the hall shots- this Hotel is h-o-t-t hot!

The suite part of our room.

Now we enter zee bedroom

Oh boy, now this has got to be the ultimate guide to actually wearing a drop veil. I looked everywhere for info & photos of actually pulling this off…and without further ado:

sources: bio, knottie question, and a whole lot of google.

the drop veil pulled backoff face

great view of pins attached to head

Knottie Msdragon used a clear comb
