Two Brides

So after the Ketubah signing it was time for the big event- the ceremony.

Natalie and I got our parasols ready for action. Now what I didn’t think of before is- how can I hold my mom’s hand holding a  bouquet and a parasol. Um. You can’t. So it ended up our mothers held the parasol. I love the pictures from it!

So because my grandma was on oxygen, she didn’t get to walk down the aisle 😦 But Nat’s grandparents, Lauren, DJ and Peter all walked down the aisle. I was trying to absorb it all. I know Nat’s Dad was getting a wee bit nervous she she started talking about how hot Sarah Palin is. It’s always an ice breaker.

Now we hired a cellist to play music for our ceremony. I honestly never heard it because I was so excited/nervous. He could have been playing death metal and I would never have known.I love cello music so I’m surprised I blocked it out- but ladies, that’s what happens. Your adrenaline kicks in and your like ‘holy crap, this is happening’ And the world totally falls away.

So thankfully our DOC told me when to go because I honestly was too flustered. MORE TO COME….

I got our wedding video from Nat’s uncle and I’m so glad he videotapped us. We didnt need some fancy smancy videoographer(I hate them). But already I can see things I didn’t know that happened!

I am in LOVE with this idea. Etsy is partnering with a city-on-wheels program for the elderly to deliver valentines cards to these people.
With my grandma in the hospital over christmas, I realize how lonely the elderly can feel on a special holiday. Cheer them up!! Think of how  nice it would be to get a suprise V-Day card!

Buy a handmade card on etsy or send them in by Feb 2- for more info check it out here.

My company, Film Noir Photography, will be sending one valentine card in honor of each couple I’m photographing in 2009- so from one happy couple to a elderly person in need of love! I’m so excited to tell my couples about this!

Calling all gay couples!! Are you planning a wedding that’s more than 6 months away?? Would you be intrested in blogging about it on a new site that’s purpose is to help newly engaged gay couples?

If YES please email me at:

You would be required to blog once weekly. Your post be pre-screened for grammer and spelling errors so no worries. The more photos the better for blogging- if your in the DC/East Coast area you could have several wedding planning events photographed for free(dress fitting or shoe shopping for example).

…And yes this is part of the suprise that TwoBrides has in store. I’m not saying any more 😉

I’m SO busy working on a very very very exciting new idea for TwoBrides. I can’t let the cat out of the bag yet…but it’s super big.

So in the mean time I’m going to share some of my favorite things on Etsy right now:

Belcanto is the shop I purchased my hair brooch from and they have more amazing finds now.

Need tubs to put parasols, programs or something else in? Check out these cute tubs over on etsy:

Letterpress + tags = yumminess. I adore these but they are, shall we say, waaay out of my price range.

And for any Jewish brides or even married ladies, you have to snag one of these awesome shirts. It says in Hebrew “Blessed to be a woman”

Oh Canada- you have a very cool dress designer. I always thought it was incredible that some brides get their dress custom done. It made me sweat just thinking about it. But after seeing this ladies work, I want one! I’m a total sucker for tulle. In fact, I have dieing to order an adult size tutu, and prance around the house in it. I just love how it floats and makes me feel like a goddess. Of course, not many people make adult sized tutu’s because, well, most people are not as weird as I am. But look at this stuff.

And the best part? They even have some prom dresses that I would totally wear as a bride- look at this blue one. I can just see her floating down the isle. Pure Something even details the process of making the dress. So even if you can’t go to Canada, you can get an idea of how having someone make you a dress would go.

After writing some tips for looking good for your engagement photos, I thought I would make a few outfits that I would have loved to wear for my shoot.

What would I most love the couples I shoot to do? BRING PROPS!! So far people have only brought the safety prop- a dog. Let’s branch out! What about your yearbook with the two of you? Or your teddy bear? Or photos of your parents/grandparents getting married? Or a totally tacky 80’s prom dress? C’mon!!! I. Will. Love. You. Forever. Your favorite story book as a kid. A parasol. Battery twinkle lights. Seashells. A killer chair or couch(um, now I would love this but we should talk about this prior to you showing up with one).
